Statement from the NJ Energy Coalition on the NJ Energy Master Plan

The NJ Energy Coalition generates public support for the production and delivery of clean, reliable, affordable, American energy to meet New Jersey's growing energy needs.

Statement from the NJ Energy Coalition on the NJ Energy Master Plan

We commend the hardworking staff of state government who worked to produce the New Jersey Energy Master Plan (EMP).  We thank Governor Murphy for his leadership on this matter. The Energy Master Plan has ambitious goals to achieve a clean energy future by 2050.  The indication from the administration that the EMP is a living document means they understand the need to be flexible.

Ideas like Advanced Metering Infrastructure, Energy Efficiency, and Electric Vehicles will provide a better future for New Jersey’s energy sector and environment. The NJ Energy Coalition supports all fuels that can empower our state and economy to provide a better and cleaner energy future.  It is important that natural gas remains part of the plan because of its contributions both from jobs and a low-cost fuel for the residents and businesses of New Jersey. Nearly 75% of the homes in New Jersey are heated by low-cost natural gas.

With the current energy mix of New Jersey being about 40 percent nuclear energy, 55 percent natural gas, and the rest made up of renewable energy, we must make sure reliability and affordability are ensured for the people of New Jersey. In the coming months, we look forward to working with the state agencies tasked with developing the proposals needed to support the implementation of the EMP.
