October Member Highlight: Anterix

Please join us in congratulating Anterix as our October highlighted member of the New Jersey Energy Coalition! Below is more information about Anterix.

Anterix, a publicly held company with headquarters in Woodland Park, NJ, and McLean, VA, enables the wireless broadband communications networks that will serve as the foundation for the modern power grid. With employees from New Jersey to Texas, Anterix holds the bulk of the nation’s 900 MHz spectrum that the Federal Communications Commission recently approved for broadband services for critical infrastructure industries. This watershed event will serve as the catalyst for a wave of utility deployments of private LTE networks to strengthen the security, reliability, efficiency, and resiliency of the grid.

A leader in wireless broadband communications for critical infrastructure, Anterix is involved in cutting-edge projects with government and industry to validate 900 MHz private LTE for utility use cases and to help educate the industry about the importance of secure, reliable broadband communications for grid management.

  • The U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory is working with Anterix and a number of utilities to study the performance of private LTE broadband networks in the 900 MHz band to support integration of distributed, renewable energy resources.
  • The National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence at the National Institute of Standards and Technology selected Anterix to participate in its “Securing the Industrial Internet of Things” project to help improve the overall security of IIoT in a distributed energy resources environment.
  • Anterix helped found the Utility Broadband Alliance (https://www.ubba.com), which serves as a hub of industry collaboration and knowledge sharing to champion and advance the development of private broadband networks as a key enabler of the smart digital grid.
