Statement from the New Jersey Energy Coalition

The New Jersey Energy Coalition Applauds SR89 in Recognition of the Critical Energy & Utility Infrastructure Workforce

Erick Ford said, “We would like to thank Senator Zwicker and all the co-sponsors for support SR89. which honors and recognizes the critical energy and utility infrastructure workforce for their service during the COVID-19 pandemic and recent weather events.”

The pandemic showed how important energy and utilities are to a society. While most people were able to bunker down and work from home without missing a beat the men and women of the energy and utilities sectors were in the offices, power plants, and ensuring New jersey has adequate reliable services. Each time our state faces tough times the critical energy and utility infrastructure workforce has risen to the occasion and provided essential services to the people of New Jersey.

The bipartisan bill recognizes the dedication, innovation, and perseverance of these workers, who have worked around the clock to successfully stabilize residential energy and utility demand in the State, restore power, mitigate widespread flooding, and stop reported gas leaks that could have led to further casualties and damage.

We are grateful for their tireless hard work and recognize the importance of honoring the invaluable service provided by the critical energy and utility infrastructure workforce.
