NJ Energy Coalition Applauds Governor Christie’s Plan for Job Creation
MILLVILLE NJ--- The NJ Energy Coalition today issued the following statement on Executive Order 78:
“We are pleased to support the Governor’s aggressive, pro-growth agenda to prioritize economic growth and support innovative initiatives to create job opportunities for New Jersey families,” said Dr. Edward H. Salmon, Chairman of the NJ Energy Coalition. “We believe that New Jersey can be a national leader in energy development. To do that, New Jersey needs to foster a sustainable in-state energy industry that includes manufacturing, economic development and, most importantly, job creation. Providing energy industry opportunities for the State’s highly trained workers and skilled tradesmen is key to encouraging growth and improving our state’s competitive edge.”
On October 20, 2011, Governor Christie announced the State Strategic Job Growth Plan which will provide a flexible guide for New Jersey’s economic development future. Through the Christie Administration’s pro-growth policies New Jersey can once again become a home for business.
“One of our main goals as an organization is to provide advocacy for initiatives in our state that will spur new development and jobs in the energy-related fields, including renewable energy projects, energy efficiency improvements on buildings, construction of new generation facilities, transmission upgrades, and new technologies,” said Bob Marshall, NJ Energy Coalition Executive Director. “We believe that New Jersey can become a hub for energy manufacturing, whether it be nuclear, wind, solar or other technologies,” added Marshall. “We look forward to working with the State Strategic Plan Steering Committee to carry out these initiatives.”
The membership of the New Jersey Energy Coalition includes statewide and local leaders and organizations representing the business, labor, trade, consumer, academic, and civic communities. Its focus is to provide education and outreach that stresses the need for a broad energy platform in New Jersey.
