Dr. Edward H. Salmon,
Dr. Edward Salmon has more than 40 years experience in government, education, and the private sector. He has served in the Governor’s Cabinet, as President of the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, Assemblyman, Freeholder Director, Mayor, President/CEO of AUS Consultants, Vice Chairman of AUS, Inc., and Founder/Chairman of Salmon Ventures Limited.
In addition to serving as the Chairman of the New Jersey Energy Coalition, he also serves as Board President of the Next Generation Aviation Research & Technology Park, Inc., the President of NARUC Commissioners Emeritus (14th term).
In 2003, Dr. Salmon and Kim Schalek Downes founded Salmon Ventures Limited (SVL), a national firm providing professional consulting to utilities, industry, government, and education.
Prior to founding SVL, he worked at AUS, a worldwide market research and consulting company. There he was responsible for creating a new operating division that provided regulatory, governmental, and technical assistance to utilities, industry, government, and educational institutions. He was also responsible for developing an Energy Aggregation Team to aid municipalities, counties, school districts, industry, and business in reducing energy costs.
Dr. Salmon holds a number of degrees, including a Doctor of Humane Letter honoris causa from Thomas A. Edison State College; an Ed. D. in Educational Leadership from the University of Delaware; two Masters of Arts – Health & Physical Education and Secondary Administration/Supervision from Rowan University of New Jersey; and a Bachelor of Arts from Gettysburg College.
Rich Jackson has close to 30 years experience working in the energy industry. Rich was most recently with Jacobs Engineering, located in Philadelphia, acting as their Director of Utility Consulting. Jackson’s resume includes serving as Executive Vice President & COO of South Jersey Gas Company, Executive Director for the New Jersey BPU, as well as Sr. Vice President of Operations for Louisiana Offshore Oil Port.
Jackson was with South Jersey Gas for over 21 years. He began as Manager of Financial Planning and climbed the ladder of increasing leadership which culminated in being appointed as Executive Vice President & COO. Jackson served in this position for 4 years. During his time with the company, he was responsible for strategic planning for all utility field operations. He was also responsible for distribution, transmission and LNG production operations, operations and maintenance, as well as gas supply and capacity management activities.
After an impressive career, Rich Jackson was appointed Executive Director of the New Jersey BPU. He served in this position from 2010-2012. During this time, Jackson led the development, implementation and execution of major program initiatives affecting the state’s electric, natural gas, water, and telecommunications ratepayers. He also represented the Board in meetings with the utility company executive staffs, other State departments, the Governor’s Office staff, and the legislature.
Mr. Jackson graduated from Farleigh Dickinson University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology. In addition Mr. Jackson has an MBA from Drexel University, and was a part of the Executive Management Program at Penn State University.
Kimberly Schalek Downes has more than 29 years of public and private sector experience in increasing responsibility in the are of governmental and regulatory relations.
As well as being the Secretary and Treasurer of the Coalition, Mrs. Schalek-Downes has been with Salmon Ventures Limited since its founding in 2003. Earlier this year she was promoted to President and now holds the position of President/CEO.
Prior to forming Salmon Ventures Limited with Dr.Salmon, Mrs. Schalek-Downes served as Vice President & Executive Coordinator at AUS Pathways. She also served as the Chief of Staff for Dr. Edward Salmon when he served as the President of the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, she served as a legislative aid, was the confidential assistant to the Woodbine Mayor, was the President of the Woodbine Board of Education, and served as the Grants Director at the Community Development Office in Woodbine.
Mrs. Schalek-Downes graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Policy & Management Studies, and Environmental Studies from Dickinson College.
Francis J McCall has over thirty years’ experience in public service. Frank has served as the Mayor and Commissioner of Pubic Works of Wildwood Crest, City Council President of Ocean City, the Cape May County 911 Coordinator, the Cape May Emergency Management Coordinator, and the Cape May County Public Works Road Manager.
In addition to serving as the Membership Chair to the New Jersey Energy Coalition, Frank is an associate at Salmon Ventures Limited (SVL), a national firm providing consulting to utilities, industry, government, and education.
Mr.McCall graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Degree from Villanova University, where he played basketball in the Philadelphia Big Five. He also is a Certified Public Manager from Rutgers University and the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs. In 2012 he was recognized by Atlantic Electric at the annual New Jersey Emergency Preparedness Conference for outstanding leadership in Emergency Management in New Jersey.
Research and Communications Coordinator
Morgan Pyle is a 2016 Stockton University graduate, where she received a Bachelor’s of Art in Political Science with a Concentration in Pre-Law. While at Stockton she interned for both the New Jersey Energy Coalition and Salmon Ventures Limited (SVL) during her senior year, served as President of the University’s Model United Nations Organization and was a member of Pi Sigma Alpha. Pyle will be continuing her education in the fall at Rutgers School of Law.
The Coalition’s Executive Board advises and assists the leadership team on developing programmatic goals that will best fulfill the Coalition’s mission of educating the public about the need for energy policies that protect the environment and improve the state’s economy.
The Coalition’s Advisory Board assists with the development of policy positions and issues that need to be addressed. The Advisory Board is comprised of members selected for their diverse backgrounds in the many areas that affect the state of New Jersey and its energy needs.
