Assemblyman Chivukula Honored with New Jersey Energy Coalition Distinguished Achievement Award
SALEM, NJ – Assemblyman Upendra Chivukula, (D-17) was honored on Thursday by the New Jersey Energy Coalition with their Distinguished Achievement Award in recognition for his leadership on energy policy issues in New Jersey.
“Assemblyman Chivukula, in his role as chair of the Assembly Telecommunications and Utilities Committee, has demonstrated outstanding leadership in developing New Jersey energy policy and advocating for affordable, clean and reliable power sources,” said Bob Marshall, Executive Director of the New Jersey Energy Coalition. “We are proud to honor the Assemblyman with this award.”
The award was presented to Assemblyman Chivukula at the New Jersey Energy Coalition Annual Membership meeting at the PSEG Energy and Environmental Resource Center on Thursday, September 15. Over 70 members and guests of the Coalition, representing business, union labor and the energy industry, met for an informative briefing on environmental and energy issues affecting New Jersey.
“The Coalition’s selection of Assemblyman Chivukula for this important award reflects his leadership in developing effective energy policy in New Jersey,” said Dr. Edward H. Salmon, Chairman of the Coalition. “The New Jersey Energy Coalition has advocated for a broad array of energy issues, including the continued improvement of electric and gas infrastructure, development of renewable technologies as well the importance of keeping energy affordable for New Jersey businesses and residents. Assemblyman Chivukula has been a major force in advancing the goal of clean, reliable, affordable energy for New Jersey.”
The event featured various speakers including Bill Levis, chief operating officer of PSEG Power; Board of Public Utilities Commissioner Joe Fiordaliso, and Karen Lefkowitz, Vice President of Business Transformation, Pepco Holdings.
